Happy Summer!
Welcome to the world, baby Graham!
We are excited to include in this month’s edition that on May 6th, IDEA Bank Director, Lynne George welcomed her second child, Graham, into the world! Mom (Lynne), Dad (Kyle), big brother (Grayson), and baby are doing well and the Georges are positively adjusting to life with the new addition to the family! Lynne will return to work full-time at the IDEA Bank in August.
The IDEA Bank is accepting applications for the 2nd annual High School Entrepreneurship Summer Camp
The Entrepreneurship Summer Camp is a 1-week program that will offer an opportunity for young aspiring entrepreneurs to learn what it takes to successfully launch an idea into a profitable business. The camp will provide high school students with technical training, hands-on activities, and real-life leadership opportunities related to entrepreneurship while fostering creativity, innovation, confidence, and idea development. Each day will challenge students to lean into their interests and develop their ideas.
The week will lead up to a pitch competition, where students will use what they've learned to pitch their product or service. The presentations will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will award the grand prize winner a $2,000 scholarship to Troy University. The deadline to apply is June 16. More information and the application can be found at the link below.
MAY RECAP
May was a busy month! Read more here to learn about all that has been going on at and around the IDEA Bank:
Congratulations, Class of 2023!
We would like to take a moment to congratulate the Troy University Class of 2023 graduates on their great accomplishments. We encourage you to go now and change the world. And remember, every great thing starts with an idea!
The iconic and historic IDEA Bank Vault has undergone a major transformation!
A bit ago, we began a project that worked to transform the iconic vault that stands here at the IDEA Bank. In this project, we, along with the help of close friends of the IDEA Bank, envisioned the vault becoming a Podcast Studio… and the rest is history! Below is a link to the before and after video of the space. By August 2023, we plan to have a fully-functioning podcast studio! Our social media highlights the transformation process:
Alabama Boys State here at the IDEA Bank!
At the end of this month, we were proud to have the opportunity to host a group as part of the 2023 Alabama Boys State. Attendees of Boys State had the opportunity to split into groups based on their interests. The IDEA Bank was able to host the group with an interest in Business. Faculty within the Sorrell College of Business assisted with leading the groups in cultivating business ideas/pitches.
The Boys State group attended two sessions at the IDEA Bank! The morning session included the cultivation of their business idea, while the night session consisted of a competition between groups for the “best business pitch.”
We want to thank Tyler and Ethan of 2 Brothers Frozen Treats, Juliana Bolivar, and Walter Black for being our guest judges for the competition! We also would like to thank Preston Pritchett for organizing the session and the Sorrell College of Business faculty members for graciously volunteering their time. Lastly, thank you to the Alabama Boys State participants— we hope your interest in business and entrepreneurship will continue to grow!
