Welcome back IDEA Bank Director, Lynne George!
We would like to take a second to welcome back our director, Lynne George! Lynne has been on maternity leave throughout the summer. She returned to work last week and dove head-first back into all things IDEA Bank! Lynne has begun accepting Student Launchpad Consultation appointments, open to any current TROY student, for the Fall 2023 semester.

RECAP of The 2023 IDEA Bank High School Entrepreneurship Summer Camp
The annual IDEA Bank High School Entrepreneurship Summer Camp took place July 17-21. Young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to learn what it takes to successfully launch an idea into a profitable business through technical business training, hands-on activities related to business ownership, networking opportunities, and inspiration towards a desire to become community changemakers and leaders.
The week lead up to a pitch competition, where students used the skills and tools that they had cultivated throughout the week to present their business ideas to a panel of judges. The business/winner of the pitch competition was Exquisite Mindset Apparel, a business by participating entrepreneur, Mady Vieira, whose goal was to allow others to customize their clothes in order to feel confident in what they wear. Mady will be presented a $2,000 scholarship to Troy University, upon acceptance.
Congratulations to all of the students and thank you to all of the participants, speakers, facilitators, judges, and more who gave their time to make our 2023 Entrepreneurship Summer Camp such a success! We would especially like to thank the Wiregrass Resource Conservation and Development (WRC&D) for their generous sponsorship of our program.
JULY RECAP OF “EVERYTHING ELSE” IDEA BANK:
July’s heat did not slow us down from continuing on events, programs, and operations of the IDEA Bank! We were proud to be a part of the following programs and events:
IDEA Bank Program Coordinator turned “Shark” for Common Ground Troy’s Shark Tank competition!

IDEA Bank Program Coordinator, Mauree Alice Porter, had the opportunity to attend Common Ground Troy’s STEM Shark Tank competition as a judge, or “Shark,” as the young men of Common Ground presented their innovative ideas aimed to “better the community.” These young men proved their creativity and innovative minds through their ideas and we enjoyed being a part of the event!
A Visit from Overseas: Sorrell College of Business and Vietnam’s University of Economics and Business sit down for open collaboration

The IDEA Bank became a collaborative space for faculty of Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business and Vietnam’s University of Economics and Business to sit down and meet with the intent of opening collaboration for research and student opportunities between the two groups.
The Vietnam-based delegation attended Troy University’s Summer Commencement where Chairman of Vietnam’s University of Economic and Business, Dr. Nguyen Truc Le, was awarded the honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Troy Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins.
